Is there such thing as an art when generating free multilevel marketing targeted leads in a forum? Yes certainly we can call that the art of attraction marketing through forum posting but this art is not one which has to be learned and practiced for years to perfect. After reading this article, you will have a good handle on participating in online forums and most importantly, you will be able to avoid the mistakes that most online marketers make. I am not an exception. I have also had my share of mistakes and my friends who happen to be network marketers also admit that they have made these common mistakes. So let’s go over some tips and tricks that will produce unrelenting, highly targeted and certified leads for you when you participate in online forums.

I have a friend from way back who has been generating leads through forums, and frankly, the technique he used is definitely one I would not suggest. What he did was a common act among forum posters—spamming. I bet you hate spam as much as I do. He entered into any online forum he could find and spammed the threads with links to his websites and promotional messages. To bump it up, he even created new threads and posted comments himself. As a result, a lot of the active members in the forum posted terrible comments on some of the threads he had created. He wasn’t getting any leads at all aside from the fact that people disliked his rude acts. Let this be a lesson to you so you won’t commit the same mistake.

Take note that there are rules to be followed when participating in online forums. You must adhere to these rules, or else you will be immediately banned by the moderators. You just can’t get into a forum and promote your business. This is against any forum rules and etiquette that I know of. There is only one place where you could advertise your business—the signature section, not on the comment box. This is the safest section to place your links. When you sign up on forums, most of them typically have a “profile” section wherein you could enter details about yourself, upload your photo (which I highly recommend), and add your signature. In your signature file, you can place an html code with your anchor text and it will direct any person who clicks on that text to your lead capture page. Once you have all these details ready, you are all set.

The next step is to find forums in which your targets are most likely to be active participants. When you have found such forums, look for threads with many views and replies. These are the kind of threads worth spending your time on. Once you have found a decent topic, give your expert opinion. I wouldn’t advise replies such as “I agree” or “me too” because these replies simply don’t offer value to the topic being discussed. Your comment should be relevant to the topic, if not it is simply a waste of time and it will be of no use to the community. You might have heard the expression; if you don’t have anything useful to say, then it’s better not to say anything at all. This is true when participating in forums or message boards. Your aim as a network marketer should be to offer helpful, valuable advice to others and to establish yourself as a leader. So, generating an endless number of leads through forums is possible, even highly probable if you become a respected and active participant. But don’t take this too seriously, as the most important thing to remember when joining the conversation is simply to have fun!

Another technique you can use is to join forums that have utterly nothing to do with your business but which are forums that you are very knowledgeable about. I know this sounds ridiculous but this is in fact a powerful strategy to use. Say for example, you enjoy making home furniture. Search for forums wherein you could find people with whom you share the same passion. Most of these people don’t have links to their sites on their signatures files, and this makes your signature file stand out. They will surely click on your link out of curiosity as they will want to discover how you are making money online. You can’t help but generate leads with this practice if you simply post replies to at least 5 threads twice a week. So, why not go for it? Attract highly targeted leads through forums.

Time is gold and the lead that you generate yourself is absolutely the best lead. Spending an hour or two in online forums to attract prospective leads will help you generate an endless stream of targeted leads.
